Functional Aspects:

Chromogranin A protein is widely expressed in neuronal tissues and secretory granules of endocrine cells such as parathyroid gland, adrenal medulla, anterior pituitary, pancreatic islets, and C cells of the thyroid. Chromogranin A expression has been reported in neuroendocrine tumors such as pituitary adenomas, islet cell tumors, phaeochromocytomas, medullary thyroid carcinomas, Merkel cell tumors, and carcinoids. Clone 5H7 was raised against the central region while SP12 was raised against the full-length chromogranin A.
