USP19 is a tail-anchored ubiquitin-specific protease localized to the ER and is a target of the unfolded protein response. USP19 rescues the ERAD substrates (CFTR)δF508 and (TCRα) from proteasomal degradation. USP19 is also known to stabilize KPC1, and E3 ligase for p27Kip1 and supports cell proliferation. This enzyme is also regulated in rat skeletal muscle during catabolic states.
