This lot was tested to confirm its ability to inhibit potently (20nM) Kv1.3 K+ channels expressed in Xenopus oocytes. |
 |
Left: Time course of Kv1.3 current amplitude in response to test pulse of 100 ms to 0 mV (holding potential -100 mV). 20 nM rAgitoxin-3 were perfused at the period marked by the horizontal bar.
Right: Traces of Kv1.3 currents before (red) and during application of the toxin.

Native Agitoxin-3 was originally isolated from the venom of the Israeli scorpion L. quinquestriatus hebraeus.1 Like Agitoxin-2 (#RTA-420), it is a potent blocker of the Shaker voltage-gated K+ channels as well as the mammalian homologues of Shaker.1
