Description
BACKGROUND: Neurturin (NTN) is a novel neurotropic factor that was recently cloned from human and mouse. Physiological responses to neurturin (NTN) require the presence of receptor tyrosine kinase RET and a novel glycosylphosphatidylinositol linked receptor NTNR?. The cDNA encoding NTNR? from human, rat, chicken, and mouse have been cloned recently and termed GDNFR?, Ret ligand 2 (RETL2) or TGF???related neurotrophic factor receptor 2 (TrnR2) and nominated as GFR?-2 recently. NTN binds to and forms a complex with GFR?-2 and the Ret PTK and activates the RET receptor tyrosine kinase pathway. Both NTN and GDNF can activate the MAP kinase and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase pathways and play a critical role in the development of many neuronal populations. Neurturin and GDNF define a new family of neurotrophic factors.
SOURCE: Rabbit anti-neurturin polyclonal antibody was raised against a peptide corresponding to amino acids 178-193 of human neurturin (1).
SPECIES REACTIVITY: human
FORMULATION: 100 ug (0.5 mg/ml) immunoaffinity purified rabbit anti-neurturin polyclonal antibody in phosphate buffered saline (PBS), pH 7.2, containing 50% glycerol, 1% BSA, 0.02% sodium azide.
STORAGE CONDITIONS: Store at -20oC, stable for one year. For long-term storage, aliquot and freeze at -70oC. Avoid repeated freeze/defrost cycles.
APPLICATION AND USAGE: The antibody can be used for detection of neurturin by Western blot analysis. An approximately 14 kDa band of the full length recombinant neurturin was detected at 1 ug/ml.
