Description (Long Description) : 

The protein kinase AKT has a role in glucose transport, glycogen synthesis, inhibiting apoptosis, cell-cycle progression, cell growth and cancer. Three isoforms of the AKT gene have been identified; AKT1, AKT2 and AKT3. AKT1 or RAC-alpha serine/threonine-protein kinase is activated by insulin and various growth and factors.
