pbBACKGROUND DESCRIPTION: /bIRAK is a recently identified serine/threonine protein kinase associated with IL-1 receptor and plays a role in promoting IL-1-mediated inflammation. IL-1 stimulates the association of IRAK with the heterodimer of IL-IRI and IL-IRAcP via the adapter protein MyD88. In the receptor complex IRAK becomes heavily phosphorylated and concomitantly activated. IRAK mediates a signaling cascade leading to NF-kB activation by members of the IL-1 family including IL-1 and a novel cytokine IL-18. In addition to its role in IL-1 signaling, IRAK is also a component of a novel signal transduction pathway through which TNFR1 activates NF-kB-dependent gene expression. The IRAK-mediated TNF response is TRADD- and TRAF2-dependent. IRAK has a ubiquitous tissue distribution but is present in small amounts./p
pbSPECIFICITY: /bThe immunoaffinity-purified antibody detects both unphosphorylated form (80 kDa) and phosphorylated form (100 kDa) of IRAK on SDS-PAGE immunoblots./p
pbAPPLICATION AND USAGE: /bThe antibody can be used for Western blot analysis (0.5-2 ug/ml). However, the optimal conditions should be determined individually./p
