Human Immunoglobulin M(Human IgM) forms polymers where multiple immunoglobulins are covalently linked together with disulfide bonds, normally as a pentamer or occasionally as a hexamer. Human Immunoglobulin M(IgM) is also by far the physically largest antibody in the circulation. Due to its polymeric nature, Human Immunoglobulin M(IgM) possesses high avidity, and is particularly effective at complement activation.
