d-Dendrotoxin was potent in blocking Kv1.1 channels (92 3%, n=4), but blocked only a relatively small fraction (20%, n=2) of cloned Kv1.2 channels, both expressed in Xenopus oocytes. |

| Kv1.1 (left, in 2mM K+) and Kv1.2 (right, in 5mM K+) channel currents, elicited by 200 ms depolarization from holding potential of ?00 mV to +20 mV, before and during application of 100 nM d-Dendrotoxin. |

d-Dendrotoxin is isolated from Dendroaspis angusticeps1 snake venom, by modification of the procedures of Harvey2 and Benishin1 and purified to homogeneity.
d-Dendrotoxin blocks Kv1.1 channels (IC50= 0.1 nM,3 for review see4). The toxin was shown to block also Kv1.6 (IC50= 23 nM).4 In addition d-Dendrotoxin blocks ROMK1 inward rectifier K+ channels with Kd of 150 nM.3
