FORM: Lyophilized in 10 mM Tris, pH7.4 + 100 mM NaCl.

RECONSTITUTION: Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in water to a concentration of 0.1-1 mg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers or stored at +4oC for 1 week or -20oC for future use.

STORAGE CONDITIONS: The lyophilized FGF-4 is best-stored desiccated below 0oC. Reconstituted FGF-4 should be stored in working aliquots at -20oC. Freeze/thaw cycles will result in significant loss of activity.

FGFs plays an important role in regulating tissue growth, morphogenesis and tissue repair. FGF-4 is a newly discovered heparin binding growth factor that stimulates the proliferation and activation of cells that express FGF receptors. The human FGF-4 is a 19.7 kDa protein containing 182 amino acid residues.

DESCRIPTION:

BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY: The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of thymidine uptake by BaF3 cells expressing FGF receptors is <0.5 ng/ml, corresponding to a Specific Activity of > 2 x 10⁶ units/mg.
