Background_Info : Artemin is a ligand for the GFR-alpha-3-RET receptor complex but can also activate the GFR-alpha-1-RET receptor complex. It supports the survival of sensory and sympathetic peripheral neurons in culture and also supports the survival of dopaminergic neurons of the ventral mid-brain.

Description (Long Description) : 

The human Artemin kit is a sandwich ELISA. The capture antibody is a mouse monoclonal antibody to human Artemin pre-coated onto the 96-well strip plates provided in the kit. Test samples and standards of known human Artemin concentration are added to these wells and allowed to complex with the bound human Artemin antibody. A biotinylated polyclonal goat antibody to human Artemin is then added. This detection antibody binds to the antigen thus completing the sandwich. After washing, an enzyme Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase complex (ABC) is added which binds to the second antibody. The peroxidase substrate TMB is added to induce a coloured reaction product. The intensity of this coloured product is directly proportional to the concentration of human Artemin present in the samples. The purpose of this kit is the in-vitro quantitative determination of human Artemin in samples such as cell culture supernatants, serum and plasma (heparin, EDTA). This kit has been configured for research use only and is not to be used in diagnostic or clinical procedures.
