Human Immunodeficiency Virus 1, strain IIIB (HIV-1). Family: Retroviridae, genus: Lentivirus. Single-stranded, positive-sense enveloped RNA virus. HIV-1, strain IIIB purified virus preparation lysed with Triton X-100. Virus is completely inactivated and contains all viral proteins present in active preparation. Can be used for applications such as ELISA or Western blot requiring non-infectious viral proteins.

Preparation of Lysate: HIV-1IIIB purified virus adjusted to a protein concentration of approximately 1.0 mg/mL and Triton X-100 added to a final concentration of 1% in TNE buffer.

Infectivity of Viral Lysate: Zero
These lots of viral lysate are specifically tested for residual infectivity and no infectious virus are detected. This is demonstrated using a 28-day TCID50 assay in H9 cells with endpoint determination by HIV-1 p24 antigen capture ELISA. The methods of inactivation used in preparation of this viral lysate have been validated to consistently produce a completely inactivated antigen preparation.
Shipping and Storage:
This product is shipped frozen on dry ice. Store at -70°C upon receipt. Avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles as product degradation may result.
*Note: Upon thawing, centrifuge the vial for a few seconds to remove residual droplets from the lid.
