Fluoro MPOHOCL - Fluorescent Myeloperoxidase Chlorination and Peroxidation Detection Kit

Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is present in the azurophilic granules of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) and is unique to neutrophils and monocytes. It utilizes H₂O₂ produced by the neutrophils to oxidize a varity of aromatic compounds, yielding substrate radicals for bactericidal activity. MPO can oxidize chloride ions to produce a strong non-radical oxidant HOCl, which is the most powerful neutrophil-derived bactericidal compound. Excessive production of these radicals can cause oxidative stress and tissue injury. This highly sensitive one-step, no-wash assay is used to measure MPO chlorination activity in neutrophils and macrophages during inflammatory reactions. It can establish kinetics by monitoring multiple time points, and is suitable for the high throughput format. Application: Microplate reader
