Cell Cycle Analysis Kit

Introduction.jpg)
The measurement of DNA was one of the most widespread applications of flow cytometry. Malignant cells are frequent aneuploidy or polyploidy that is prognostic factor, so that measurement of DNA content is of increasing importance in diagnostic pathology. The content of DNA also gives information about cell cycle.
A quiescent cell that is not growing or involved in cell division is often referred to as being in the G 0 phase. If division is triggered, the cells first enter the G 1 phase of the cell cycle, during which the amount of RNA increased and contained proteins essential for replication of DNA are made. When the cell starts to make new DNA it has entered the S, DNA synthetic, phase of the cycle. During this phase the DNA content of the cell increases until it has doubled. Then, DNA synthesis ceases and the cell is in the G 2 phase. Finally, the cell will enter mitosis (M) and divide returning to G1 or to the rest, G 0 phase.
The most commonly used DNA dye is Propidium Iodide (PI, excited by 488 nm light), which intercalates in the DNA helix and fluoresces strongly orange-red. This kit contains PI to indicate the cell cycle phase of either the cells or the tissues in your studies.
