Description

Complement component C2 is a component of the classical complement pathway and is involved in activation of C3 and C5. C2 consists of a single polypeptide chain with a molecular mass of 102 kDa. This antibody is specific for C2 from human plasma and serum. Crossreactivity to C2 from other species has not been tested.

Application Notes

Product Cat. No. 250308 reacts strongly with C2 from human serum/plasma and when used as detection antibody in sandwich ELISA in combination with a polyclonal antibody against C2. Product Cat. No. 250308 reacts in western blot with C2 and a subfraction of C2 identified as C2b, but only under non-reducing conditions. Product Cat. No. 250308 is suitable for Sepharose column purification of C2 from plasma.
