Application & Usage: Western blotting (2-6 µg/ml). However, the optimal conditions should be determined individually. Jurkat cell lysate (Cat.# 2401-100), mouse small intestine (Cat.# 2601-100) and rat kidney (Cat.# 2702-100) can be used as positive controls. The antibody detects a ~17 kDa BIK in samples from human, mouse, and rat origins. A ~15 kDa cleavage fragment can also be detected

Brief Background Descriptions: BIK is a member of Pro-apoptotic Bcl-2 family proteins. Although Bik lacks Bcl-2 homologus region, BH1 and BH2, BIK interacts with Bcl-2 and Bcl-xL. BIK has been shown to induce apoptosis by activating caspase-9.
