The nucleotide receptor P2Y6 binds UDP, and is a member of the G-protein  

coupled receptor superfamily.^1,3  

P2Y6 agonists induce an inositol phosphate/Ca²⁺ response that is  

insensitive to pertussis toxin inhibition. P2Y6 is coupled to phospholipase C via Gq,

and is also coupled to inhibition of N-type Ca²⁺ and M-type K⁺ channels.^1,2  

P2Y6 mRNA is expressed in various rat tissues, including lung, stomach, intestine,  

spleen, heart, and aorta. P2Y6 was reported to mediate contractions in human cerebral arteries.⁴

Peptide CQPHDLLQKLTAKWQRQRV corresponding to   residues 311-328 of rat P2Y6 receptor (Accession number Q63371).

Mouse - 17/18 residues identical; human - 15/18 residues identical.

Reactivity Confirmed:

Rat, Mouse.

Applications:

Western Blotting:

Rat brain lysate (1:200).

Western blotting of rat brain (lanes 1,3) and rat heart (lanes 2,4) lysates:   1,2. Anti-P2Y6 antibody (1:200).  3,4. Anti-P2Y6 antibody, preincubated with the control peptide antigen.

Immunohistochemistry:

Mouse heart paraffin section.

Immunohistochemical staining of P2Y6 in rat heart using Anti-P2Y6 antibody (#APR-011).   P2Y6 was visualized with immuno-peroxidase methods and final brown-black diaminobenzidine color product (arrows in A).   The counterstain is cresyl violet. When the antibody was pre-incubated with the immunogen, staining was blocked (B).
