| Enhancement of Nav currents in differentiated PC-12 cells by low APE2-1 concentrations. |
![]() |
| Activation of Nav channels current in NGF treated PC-12 cells by 5 nM APE2-1. Current traces recorded in a typical cell before (red) and during (black) application of APE2-1. Holding potential was -120 mV and a test pulse to -20 mV was delivered every 10 seconds. |

A potent cardiotoxin, which evokes a positive inotropic and chronotropic effect on mammalian heart muscle.1,2 Recently it was found that this toxin modifies the current passing through the fast Na+ channel in neuroblastoma cells, leading to delay and incomplete inactivation.2
Effective at concentrations of 1-5nM in isolated guinea-pig atria.2
