FEATURED PRODUCTS

Lectin Fluorophores

GlycoMatrix™ offers a wide range of affinity-purified fluorophore-conjugated lectins for glycan verification of location and transformational changes. The main fluorophores used in conjugation are Fluorescein (FITC), Texas Red, Rhodamine (TRITC), Cy3, and Cy5. We also can proceed any Alexa Fluor™ or Quasar (QSD)-conjugated lectins. Within the next two months, GlycoMatrix™ will be releasing a set Infrared-Dye conjugated lectins to complement the portfolio. Please let us know if you have further suggestions to increase our portfolio.

Concanavalin A Lectin (Con A) - Pure

Affinity purified concanavalin A (Con A) is composed of two identical subunits of 237 amino acid residues (MW: 26,000 without any cystine residues). While above pH 7 it is predominantly tetrameric, at pH 4.5 – 5.6, Con A binds two metal ions per monomer: transition metals, Mn2+ and Ca2+. Both ions are required for binding with optimum activity at a pH 7.0. Con A binds with non-reducing α-D-glucose, α-D-mannose and α-methyl-D-glucopyranoside acts as a competitive inhibitor. Con A does not have a blood group specificity.

Sialosignaling

Sialylated structures are the major cancer-associated glycan alterations, including Thomsen–Friedenreich-associated antigens, sialyl Lewis antigens, α2,6-sialylated lactosamine, and gangliosides. This is due to an altered sialyltransferase expression in cancer. The presence of aberrantly sialylated structures on cell membrane receptors generates a flow of information toward the nucleus, which can exacerbate the neoplastic phenotype. Glycomatrix.com offers a variety of Lectins to detect various sylylated structures associated with cancer biomarkers.

Corona Virus & Lectins

In SARS-CoV-2 research, it has been shown that Maackia amurensis Lectin targets the ACE2 receptor. As a result, the spike protein binding is suppressed, and inflammatory mediators show decreased expression (Sheehan et. Al, 2021). GlycoMatrix carries the following quality MAA/MAL conjugated products for research use:

A recent study made it evident that WGA inhibits infection with SARS-CoV-2 by inhibiting replication when the lectin is incubated with the virus during infection. The data from the same study indicated that the mode of action is an interaction between WGA and the viral envelope, causing neutralization of the virus. This occurs via the highly glycosylated spike proteins (Auth et. Al, 2021).

GlycoMatrix™ carries the following high-quality WGA products for in vitro laboratory studies:

21510011 - Triticum vulgaris (Wheat germ) Lectin ( WGA), Pure
